Clean cartons are combined with paper wastes from the neighbouring book shop to reach the minimum of 50 kg for collection required by Paper Chain. This is usually collected about once a week. Since the cardboard collection was started, other wastes requiring collection have reduced from once a week to one to two times a month. Less waste is now going to landfill and cardboard material is now a resource rather than a waste.
